Waypoint Shelter is a year-round, low-barrier emergency shelter with professional staff on-site 24/7. Includes case management, wraparound services, and Pathways to Permanence — a structured program for moving from shelter to stable housing.

VAC has over 55 years of experience meeting people where they are with dignity. Waypoint Shelter will be operated by trained staff using evidence-based practices. We're not experimenting. We're implementing what works.

Location

We are located at 1304 Bowling St, east of the power plant off Business Loop 70 East.

The shelter is accessible from the Go Como Transit Orange Route. 

Instructions

Check-In Daily from 6:30pm-7:30pm

Guests need to appear in-person at Waypoint Shelter after 5:30pm to check availability (the line starts to form then). Speak to a staff member at the door to get on the list for the night. Check-in ends at 7:30pm.

Daily Availability

Waypoint Shelter closes at 8:00am each Sunday-Friday, and is open all day Saturday.

Volunteer at Waypoint Shelter

Volunteers can assist in a number of different ways depending on the times they are available and the amount of work they wish to do. (For example: picking up, dropping off, and preparing meals.) Each night is broken into several shifts, each with specific duties. Volunteers must be 18 or older.

Volunteer Training - Coming Soon

Registration costs $20 for in-person, and is free for virtual attendees. This is reserved for people who will be volunteering at VAC Opportunity Campus or who intend to attend all of our upcoming training sessions.
