Every summer, VAC works together with the Columbia Water and Light Department and Boone Electric Cooperative to provide the Air Conditioner Exchange Program. This program allows low-income Columbia Water and Light and Boone Electric Cooperative customers to swap their older, less efficient, or broken window air conditioner units for new ones. This helps them to stay cool and save money on utility bills.
The exchange will be held on June 4, 2026 9am-10am at the Boone Electric Cooperative Community Building (1413 Rangeline St). You MUST be registered to participate. All of the old air conditioners are disposed of properly and recycled by the City.
How to Register
- Registration opens Monday, May 4, 2026.
- Interested clients should call VAC (573-874-2273) to check for eligibility and schedule an appointment.
- You must be a current Columbia Water & Light or Boone Electric Cooperative customer to participate.
Participant Requirements
- Bring your old, inefficient and/or broken window air conditioner unit to the event on June 4, 2026.
- You must have your most recent electric bill for your address faxed or emailed to VAC from Boone Electric Cooperative or City Of Columbia before the event date.
