Every summer, VAC’s Back-to-School Program helps ensure that children across Boone County start the school year with the confidence and tools they need to succeed. For many families, the cost of school supplies can be a heavy burden—and no child should have to begin the year without the basics. A new backpack filled with grade-appropriate supplies doesn’t just prepare students for the classroom—it reminds them they’re seen, supported, and worth investing in.
This year, VAC will distribute 800 fully-stocked backpacks, and each unit costs about $15—bringing our total need to $12,000. That may seem like a big number, but it’s more than possible when we each do a small part. Here’s what your gift can do:
$15 = 1 student fully equipped
$30 = 2 students ready for day one
$75 = a whole classroom of 5 students prepared to succeed
$150 = 10 students set up for a strong start
Backpacks are provided entirely through financial donations, which allow us to purchase supplies in bulk and maintain consistency in what each child receives. Your donation goes directly toward making sure every student walks into school with dignity, pride, and a fresh start.
Together, we can give 800 kids the chance to show up prepared—and ready to learn
