Employment

Part of getting back to stability is employment. VAC knows that individuals may need to purchase items for a work uniform or obtain a food handler card. We provide assistance with paying for these required items.

Work Uniforms assistance guidelines:

  • Funding is based on a $50 limit per Address per 12-month period for all monetary services.
  • Recently employed and have NOT received their 1st paycheck.
  • Client must bring a “dummy receipt” from Walmart customer service (from any 3 locations in Columbia) listing the items and cost.

Food Handler Card – (once every three years)

  • Funding is based on a $50 limit per Address per 12-month period for all monetary services.
  • Must be employed and food handler card must be required for employment (and not eligible for reimbursement by employer).

Gas assistance guidelines:

  • Funding is based on a $50 limit per Address per 12-month period for all monetary services.
  • Vouchers may be provided once every 30 days based on funding limits.
  • Vouchers are available to request up to 5 business days before scheduled health appointments or work dates.

Car Repair Assistance

Minor car repair assistance for employed individuals is available based on specific funding. Someone living at the Address must have a valid driver’s license. Please inquire about funding availability.
