Warm Up Columbia was held October 26 at the Armory (701 E Ash)
Warm Up Columbia is an annual drive coordinated by VAC, churches, and businesses in our community. Warm items such as coats, blankets, scarves, gloves, and hats are collected and given to those who come to the event.
Items are collected at Commerce Bank and other participating businesses and churches. Public distribution of collected items then takes place at the Armory (701 East Ash Street). Items are given out on a first come, first served basis. All individuals (including children) who wish to receive winter clothing items must be present on the day of distribution.
This year’s event saw over 530 individuals receive warm winter clothing. After the event other agencies in the community were allowed to come pick up items for their clients who may not have been able to attend. In all, we were able to assist around 1,000 individuals and had over 5,000 items donated. Thank you to all who helped collect items and to all the volunteers who helped sort and distribute those items to our community members!
