Minor Car Repair – employed individuals

August 11, 2020 – Even as things change day to day with the current crisis, services at VAC remain steadfast. If anything has changed, it is that we continue to see a growing number of requests for rent assistance. Many in our community are struggling in this way.

We continue to provide services with no contact and by appointment. Appointments can be set by calling the VAC office (573-874-2273).

In addition to being able to support in many other ways, VAC currently has special funds available to assist adults with dental procedures and employed individuals with minor car repairFans and air conditioner exchange remain available as well during the summer months.
For more information about these and other available services, please visit the Services page on our website.

July 2, 2020 – As our community’s circumstances remain fluid and change is part of our daily experience, VAC’s services remain in place as we still provide services only by appointment. Please see our Services page on this site for more information about specific services.

As anticipated, we are receiving more inquiries about rent assistance. We have dedicated two staff persons to provide rent assistance services. Individuals may call our office at any time for information or to be screened for qualification. Because of demand, however, there are days when screening is paused so that we can process applications on hand. More information is available here.

Our Fan Program and Air Conditioner Program also continue, provided as other services are – by appointment and with no contact.

May 1, 2020 – Even as guidelines for reopening businesses are relaxed, VAC continues to provide services by appointment only and through non-contact provision. This is proving effective and we feel the best way to move forward for now. This will be true also as the Fan Program begins on May 1 and the Air Conditioner Exchange program starts May 5. We continue to evaluate services and provision in an ongoing basis.

Additionally, we want to the community to be aware that we are providing rent and mortgage assistance for those who meet funding guidelines. Some funds are being provided especially for those impacted by COVID-19. More information is available by calling the VAC office.

April 10, 2020 As the impact of COVID-19 becomes more apparent, some people are struggling to meet their most basic needs. Nothing could be more basic than housing and VAC anticipates hearing from more people needing assistance with rent. Funding for this service is limited and there are guidelines we have to follow from our funders, but we will do all we can to help in this way moving forward.

April 3, 2020 As the COVID-19 event continues, VAC is grateful to the community for the ongoing support that makes it possible for us to provide the following services: baby formula, diapers and wipes; prescription, dental, and other medical co-pays; emergency food; gas for employment and medical appointments; hygiene, feminine hygiene and household cleaning products; Missouri birth certificates; photo ID; and work uniforms. Please call our office (573) 874-2273 for more information.

March 24, 2020  – VAC continues to provide services by appointment only, but with curbside pick up. Our external lobby door will remain closed. At the time of appointment, clients will call when they arrive and the items needed will be placed outside the door for the client to pick up when the staff member is back inside.

March 18, 2020  – VAC will be changing how we provide services in light of the current COVID-19 situation.

To reduce the risk of illness to our community and staff, provision of services will be done by appointment only until further notice. Walk in services will not be provided at this time. This will decrease the amount of face-to-face time for our staff and clients and allow us to provide much needed services during this uncertain time.  Appointments will be set during our service hours of 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. and 1:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. We have implemented a cleaning process within the office and are focused on sanitizing of common and individual work spaces.

At this time VAC will do our best to provide necessary services to the individuals and families possibly hit hardest by the COVID-19 crisis.
