VAC’s 50th Birthday Party!

Join us October 3, 5:30 to 7:30 at Bur Oak Brewing Co. as we celebrate VAC’s 50 Years of Service in the Boone County community with a Birthday Party! There will be great food from Lily’s Cantina and Big Daddy’s BBQ, great beverages from Bur Oak, fun games, and a wonderful time with all those who support VAC.

With your ticket you’ll receive a meal from one of the food trucks, one beer or glass of wine, birthday cake, and play of one game. Additional meals, drinks, and game tickets will be available for purchase as well.

This family-friendly event will feature: inflatable games (Gladiator Combo, Skee Ball, and High Stryker), CoMo Axe Attack, Magic Mirror Photobooth, a rockin’ DJ, and more!

You’ll be able to pick up your tickets that evening at the door. Tickets are $75 per individual, $175 for a family of four (with $10 for each additional family member.) Keep in mind that you’ll be able to give a special Birthday Gift to VAC at the party as well!

VAC 50th BIrthday Party

Today, VAC is an established social service agency, essential to clients, agencies and the community as a whole. Our staff consists of seven full-time employees, one part-time employee, and two interns per semester. Funding for our services provided by the Heart of Missouri United Way, City of Columbia, Boone County, local faith congregations, private and corporate foundations, Veterans groups, Federal and state agencies, and business and individual donations.

In 2018, VAC distributed 4,623 bags of food, 384 fans, 69 air conditioner units, over 1,955 hygiene product packs, 1,779 household cleaning packs, 1246 diaper packages, and 254 car seats. The agency assisted with 685 medical co-pays, school supplies for over 1,000 students, 781 birth certificates and other IDs, 207 provisions of work uniforms, clothing vouchers for 2,099 individuals, gas on 794 occasions, bus passes for 423 people & 565 annual bus passes, assisted with rent payments for 240 people, and 817 clothing vouchers. Additionally, VAC provided information and referral services on more than 10,000 occasions, helping people find their way to needed resources.

VAC will be noting our 50 Years of Service throughout the year, including a Gold Sponsor presentation at the Columbia Chamber of Commerce Quarterly Membership Breakfast in April and a celebration event in the fall.
