Family registration to receive a computer will be held January 9 through February 15, 2012
at the Voluntary Action Center (403A Vandiver Drive)

Only families living in Columbia with school-age children (grades K-12) are eligible to apply.  Interested persons must bring proof of their current physical address; proof of income for everyone at that address; and identification for everyone at that address to the VAC office during the registration period to fill out an application with a VAC social services specialist.

A drawing will be held to determine which applicants will receive a computer, and winners will be notified during the week of February 20, 2012.

The computer distribution will be on the morning of Saturday, February 25, 2012 at the Downtown Optimist “Friend of Youth” Building (1201 Grand Ave).  At that time, recipients will receive training on Internet Safety for children.

The program will distribute only computers donated by the City of Columbia.  VAC is not able to accept other computer donations at this time.

Free introductory computer courses are available on a regular basis at the Daniel Boone Regional Library to help families become more familiar with basic hardware and software components of the computer.

Families who have received a computer from VAC in the past are not eligible to receive another.

For more information, contact the VAC office at (573) 874-2273 or vac@vacmo.org.
