Donations

Voluntary Action Center exists to connect those who are able to give with those who are in need. We are funded by Columbia Area United Way, the City of Columbia, Boone County, the Interfaith Council of Churches FISH Fund, FEMA, Boone Electric Trust, and Veterans groups. We also receive donations from the generous people of Boone County. Without this support, many of our services would not be possible.

When you give to VAC, 100% of your donation stays in Boone County. Your gift is also tax-deductible. If you, your business, organization, or church would like to get involved with the Voluntary Action Center, call us at 874-2273.

Donations Are Always Needed

In order to continue to provide critical emergency services to low-income families, VAC needs the support of caring community members. Your donation could buy

  • formula for a baby
  • food for a family
  • a uniform for someone in transition from welfare to work
  • important medicine for someone with no health insurance
  • gas for someone needing transportation to get to and from work
  • emergency shelter for a homeless family

VAC will allocate your gift where it is needed the most, or you can specify what services you would like your donation to provide.

Throughout the year we have special programs in need of donations. You can help! Perhaps you would like to help children go to summer camp or play in a local sports league via your donation to the Youth Enrichment Fund. Maybe your business would like to provide funds for dental care or eyeglasses.

In 2002, an endowment fund was established to ensure VACs stability in the community. Please consider a gift to VAC in your will, trust or other long-term financial plans.

There are so many ways to become involved with the work of Voluntary Action Center. If you would like information, call us at 874-2273.
