VAC distributes approximately 4,000 catalogs each year to individuals throughout the community seeking volunteer opportunities, including university and high school students, church groups, civic groups, businesses, and other individuals. Catalogs are distributed at volunteer fairs, volunteer program presentations, at the library and the Chamber of Commerce, and to individuals who call or stop by the VAC office. Many agencies listed in the catalog have indicated that they have obtained valuable volunteer help through their listing. Volunteer Count The Voluntary Action Center recently conducted an informal survey of local agencies to assess the contributions of volunteers to Boone County during 2008.
121 agencies responded, and reported a total of 90,633 volunteers at their agencies during 2008. Those volunteers contributed 2,740,120 total hours of service, for an estimated economic impact of $53,459,736.32!
These agencies could not have completed all the vital work they do in the community without the help and time of these wonderful volunteers. Thank you Boone County Volunteers!

Helping Hand Catalog of Volunteer Opportunities
VAC is currently updating The Helping Hand Catalog, a free listing of volunteer opportunities in Boone County. Please contact VAC if your agency or group utilizes volunteers, and would like to be listed in the catalog (all listings are free).VAC distributes approximately 4,000 catalogs each year to individuals throughout the community seeking volunteer opportunities, including university and high school students, church groups, civic groups, businesses, and other individuals.
